Site Prep & Excavation

Home Builder with Site Prep and Excavation of Retaining Walls

We Take Care Of All Aspects

When it comes to new construction, the site prep and excavation can be a challenge that many overlook. Before a site can be developed, the ground must be completely cleared and leveled. This includes clearing any trees and their roots that may be in the way.   A lot needs to be accumulated such as where the building will be located, where access roads for construction vehicles will be used, where supplies will be stored so that they are easily accessible, and where drainage and septic systems will be built.   We may want temporary power during construction, and maybe temporary water too.

At Justin Mason Construction, we can be your professional site prep and excavation contractor.  We take care of all aspects to preparing for a building to be built.

A New Challenge

The picture on the top features a beautiful walk-out basement. Adding retaining walls on a walk-out basement adds a much larger area for patios, pools, etc. There are several materials that can be used to build a retaining wall. This retaining wall was built with split-faced blocks.  And the next picture shows footing that has been poured. This particular home will have a conditioned crawl space, so we excavated under the house so that the ground would be completely level. This creates a smooth place to install mechanical equipment and also puts equipment in an indirectly conditioned area.

Excavation Examples

In the pictures that follow, you will find more site prep and excavation examples. In the first you will notice this crawl space will also be conditioned. The block walls below grade have been treated just like a basement wall. They are waterproofed, and drain tile is installed with gravel to get any bulk water away from the home. The raised areas with dirt will be concrete porches.

Walkout Basement Excavation

Here you will notice a basement that has been dug and prepped for Superior Wall panels. We cover the vertical areas with landscaping fabric to keep any dirt from falling onto the gravel and drain tile, which could potentially contaminate or clog up the drain tile. PVC drainage pipes have already been installed to attach to the downspouts once they are installed.
